Greater New Orleans Foundation

Disaster Relief Lands Close to Home

In 2021, Southeast Louisiana was devastated by Hurricane Ida. As residents dealt with the fallout of the Category-4 storm, Greater New Orleans Foundation and grantee partners sprang into action to aid with recovery.

We created a microsite that reflected the breadth of The Foundation’s efforts, with the goal of updating citizens and partners on the impact their donations made on recovery. The site includes metrics—$4m raised by 1,300 donors, $3m distributed to 80 nonprofits with particular emphasis on BIPOC organizations—as well as testimonials from nonprofits who provided emergency support. An evaluation report provides an overview of how The Foundation and nonprofits worked together, which needs they addressed, and which demographics were given priority.
