Highlighting Black Women's Contributions to the Fight Against HIV

Designed and produced by Boombox as an installation for Gilead Sciences at the US Conference on HIV and AIDS (USCHA), “Champions of Change” was a moving tribute to 10 Black women leaders who have made significant contributions to HIV/AIDS research and advocacy. The mixed media installation served as a space for attendees to learn, be inspired, and celebrate the vital role Black women play in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Prompted by guests’ positive emotional response, Gilead asked Boombox to tour the installation to appropriate community events and venues including the Harlem Fine Arts Show (Celebrating African-Americans in Medicine), My Brother’s Keeper 25th Anniversary Gala, a prominent Black-owned art gallery in Atlanta, where we paired the installation with panel discussions on HIV, and Gilead’s headquarters.
