Putting Canon’s PowerShot in Center Court

Canon tasked Boombox with creating an engaging platform to support the launch of their new PowerShot camera​. Our goal was to showcase the technology and ease of Canon’s product, while also positioning campaign figurehead Maria Sharapova as both an on- and  off-court personality​.

Boombox developed a national, multi-year program that introduced consumers to the PowerShot product line and allowed Canon’s sales teams to spend time with key retail partners​. We accomplished this by producing and managing the Canon Center Court, a massive  interactive tennis and photo experience in a 50’ dome in New York City during the US Open. The activation included a PR kickoff unveiling Maria Sharapova’s Diamond Collection and Canon’s Joy of Photography experience, which we complemented with a consumer-focused Maria’s Diamond Collection Sweepstakes. We also organized a citywide stunt in which a fleet of Maria Sharapova look-a-likes canvassed NYC and posed for photos with commuters and tourists.​

Additionally, we sponsored strategically selected US tennis tournaments, including the US Open, NASDAQ-100 Open and Pacific Life Open. Our PR-focused youth clinics also allowed students a chance to learn from pros. The program helped to drive significant PR coverage and traffic to both dot-com and local retail partners​.
